Jesus Calling: February 1st, 2025

Jesus Calling: February 1

Follow Me one step at a time. That is all I require of you. In fact, that is the only way to move through this space/time world. You see huge mountains looming, and you start wondering how you're going to scale those heights. Meanwhile, because you're not looking where you're going, you stumble on the easy path where I am leading you now. As I help you get back on your feet, you tell Me how worried you are about the cliffs up ahead. But you don't know what will happen today, much less tomorrow. Our path may take an abrupt turn, leading you away from those mountains. There may be an easier way up the mountains than is visible from this distance. If I do lead you up the cliffs, I will equip you thoroughly for that strenuous climb. I will even give My angels charge over you, to preserve you in all your ways.
     Keep your mind on the present journey, enjoying My Presence. Walk by faith, not by sight, trusting Me to open up the way before you.

RELATED SCRIPTURE:

Psalm 18:29 NLT
29 In your strength I can crush an army;
    with my God I can scale any wall.

Additional insight regarding Psalm 18:29-30: Some people think that belief in God is a crutch for weak people who cannot make it on their own. God is indeed a shield to protect us when we are too weak to face certain trials by ourselves, but he does not want us to remain weak. He strengthens, protects, and guides us in order to send us out into an evil world to fight for him. Then he continues to work with us because the strongest person on earth is infinitely weaker than God and needs his help. David was not a coward; he was a mighty warrior who, even with all his armies and weapons, know that only God could ultimately protect and save him.

Psalm 91:11-12 NLT
11 For he will order his angels
    to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands
    so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.

Additional insight regarding Psalm 91: This psalm wonderfully reassures anyone facing the sickness or death of a loved one, time in prison, or some other great loss. When you have the opportunity, read this psalm aloud as a prayer for yourself or someone who needs help. It will bring great comfort, encouragement, and peace.

Additional insight regarding Psalm 91:11: One of the functions of angels is to watch over believers. It is comforting to know that God and his servants watch over us even in times of great stress and fear.

2nd Corinthians 5:7 NLT
7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.

Additional insight regarding 2nd Corinthians 5:6-8: Paul was not afraid to die because he was confident in spending eternity with Christ. Of course, facing the unknown may cause us anxiety, and leaving loved ones hurts deeply, but if we believe in Jesus Christ, we can share Paul's hope and confidence in eternal life with Christ. Death is only a prelude to eternal life with God. We will continue to live. Let this hope give you confidence and inspire you to faithful service.

  1. Jesus calling was given to me 5 years prior to me being saved from the grip of Alcohol and drug addiction . Someone I barely knew insisted on getting this devotional for me, and it sat unopened for 4 1/2 years . In spiritual brokenness the readings became a blueprint as He drew me from the dark into His Light . Blind and lost faith became a Real conviction of what God can and will do for the crushed in Spirit . He put me in the stream of Life where I can be useful to Others . Of myself I am Nothing . By the Grace of God I've been able to pass this on to my Friends ,Family and other brothers I've met along the Road Up .
