Jesus Calling: November 9th, 2024

Jesus Calling: November 9th

Sit quietly with Me, letting all your fears and worries bubble up to the surface of your consciousness. There, in the Light of My Presence, the bubbles pop and disappear. However, some fears surface over and over again, especially fear of the future. You tend to project yourself mentally into the next day, week, month, year, decade; and you visualize yourself coping badly in those times. What you are seeing is a false image, because it doesn't include Me. Those gloomy times that you imagine will not come to pass, since My Presence will be with you at all times.
When a future-oriented worry assails you, capture it and disarm it by suffusing the Light of My Presence into that mental image. Say to yourself, "Jesus will be with me then and there. With His help, I can cope!" Then, come home to the present moment, where you can enjoy Peace in My Presence.

RELATED SCRIPTURE:

Luke 12:22-31(NLT)
Do Not Worry
22 Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. 23 For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. 24 Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! 25 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 26 And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?

Additional insight regarding Luke 12:22-34: Jesus commands us to not worry. But how can we avoid it? Only faith can free us from the anxiety caused by greed and covetousness. Working and planning responsibly is good; dwelling on all the ways our planning could go wrong is bad. Worry is pointless because it can't fill any of our needs; worry is foolish because the Creator of the universe loves us and knows what we need. He promises to meet all our real needs but not necessarily all of our desires. Overcoming worry requires: (1) Simple trust in God, our heavenly Father. This trust is expressed by praying to him rather than worrying. (2) Perspective on your problems. This can be gained by developing a strategy for addressing and correcting your problems. (3) A support team to help. Find some believers who will pray for you to find wisdom and strength to deal with your worries.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

2nd Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Additional insight regarding 2nd Corinthians 10:5: Paul uses military terminology to describe this warfare against sin and Satan. God must be the commander in chief - even our thoughts must be submitted to his control as we live for him. Spirit-empowered believers must capture every thought and yield it to Christ. When exposed to ideas or opportunities that might lead to wrong desires, you have a choice. You can recognize the danger and turn away, or you can allow unhealthy thoughts to take you captive. You capture your fantasies and desires when you honestly admit them to the Lord and ask him to redirect your thinking. Ask God to give you the spirit of discernment to keep your thoughts focused on his truth.

  2. WOW!!! This is an amazing place here to read my daily Jesus Calling. Never really stopped to read this blog until today. Yesterday and the last few days, I was at my last straw. TODAY, I am renewed, revived and refreshed. IT WAS JUST LAST NIGHT after God led me to "what" I needed to know, I was blown away. But it is a "good" blown away. HE is Who He says He is. He IS doing what He says He is doing. We MUST JUST TRUST Him, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to take care of us. We cannot take care of ourselves without Him. With what is going on this world right now, we know that it is getting closer to the "end times." Well, THAT'S been going on since Adam and Eve. So ..... let go, let God and quit worrying about what the evil one is doing in this world. We KNOW God wins in everything. We KNOW that God has the PLAN for eternal life with all of our loved ones and friends. So, again I say (to me, as well as you) STOP WORRYING (Phillipians 4"6) LET GO AND LET GOD. THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!

  3. Thank you for the insights of this message and the comments made. I hv walked along time with Jesus and struggle with trust due to all the dissapointments. It's really a choice and decision on our part to either believe and let go or hang on to what I am powerless over and let go. God gives us a day at a time so for today I will let go of all my concerns and give them to Him. If tomorrow comes, as it most likely will, I will make a choice to give that day to Him too.

  5. I too struggle with letting go but I know our Heavenly Father, as another believer said, gives us day by day, and created me in His image and therefore forgives ALL of our struggles. I have the same mind-blowing experience each day when I read this daily devotion. Thanks be to God.

  7. I started reading Jesus Calling years ago as needed. I started reading Jesus calling daily beginning in March 2023. It’s now November 2023. This is the most consistent thing I’ve done in my life for this long without missing a day. This practice has changed me, it’s transforming my marriage, my relationship with God, my relationship with Jesus, my faith, my attitude, my happiness, my peace. My mind goes to God before it goes to negativity now more than ever. The Jesus calling daily devotional is making Jesus more real to me.
