Jesus Calling: August 20th, 2024

Jesus Calling: August 20th

I am a God who heals, I heal broken bodies, broken minds, broken hearts, broken lives, and broken relationships. My very Presence has immense healing powers. You cannot live close to Me without experiencing some degree of healing. However, it is also true that you have not because you ask not. You receive the healing that flows naturally from My Presence, whether you seek it or not. But there is more--much more--available to those who ask.
The first step in receiving healing is to live ever so close to Me. The benefits of this practice are too numerous to list. As you grow more and more intimate with Me, I reveal My will to you more directly. When the time is right, I prompt you to ask for healing of some brokenness in you or in another person. The healing may be instantaneous, or it may be a process. That is up to Me. Your part is to trust Me fully and to thank Me for the restoration that has begun.
I rarely heal all the brokenness in a person's life. Even My servant Paul was told, "My grace is sufficient for you," when he sought healing for the thorn in his flesh. Nevertheless, much healing is available to those whose lives are intimately interwoven with Mine. Ask, and you will receive.

RELATED SCRIPTURE:

Psalm 103:3 (NLT)
3 He forgives all my sins
    and heals all my diseases.

James 4:2 (NLT)
2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.

Additional insight regarding James 4:2: Instead of aggressively grabbing what we want, we should submit ourselves to God, ask God to help us get rid of our selfish desires, and trust him to give us what we really need. When you do talk to God, what do you talk about? Do you ask only to satisfy your own desires? Do you seek God's approval for what you already plan to do? Your prayers will become powerful when you allow God to change your desires so that they perfectly correspond to his will for you (see 1st John 3:21-22).

2nd Corinthians 12:7-9 (NLT)
7 even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.
8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

Additional insight regarding 2nd Corinthians 12:7-9: Three times Paul prayers for healing and did not receive it. He received, however, things far greater because he received greater grace from God, a stronger character, humility, and an ability to empathize with others. In addition, it benefitted those around him as they saw God at work in his life. God, according to his sovereign plan, doesn't heal some believers of their physical ailments. We don't know why some are spared and others aren't. God chooses according to his divine purposes. Our task is to pray, to believe, and to trust. Paul is living proof that holy living and courageous faith do not ensure instant physical healing. When we pray for healing, we must trust our bodies to God's care. We must recognize that nothing separates us from his love (Romans 8:35-39) and that our spiritual condition is always more important than our physical condition. As we recognize our limitations, we will depend more on God for our effectiveness rather than our own energy, effort, or character but also deepen our worship, because in admitting them, we affirm God's strength.

Matthew 7:7 (NLT)
Effective Prayer
7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Additional insight regarding Matthew 7:7: Jesus tells us to persist in pursuing God. People often give up after a few halfhearted efforts and conclude that God cannot be found. But knowing God takes faith, focus, and follow-through, and Jesus assures us that we will be rewarded. Don't give up in your efforts to seek God. Continue to ask him for more knowledge, patience, wisdom, love, and understanding. He will give them to you.

  1. Good Morning JC Warriors! May you all have had a restful sleep! Another update on Jessie...My sister let me know Jessie starts her new day shift position on 8/30 and today she is scheduled with a therapist with whom my sister's friends have gone to and have said this gal is very gentle, kind, compassionate, and effective. Praise God for his healing of Jess! And, thank you all, again, for your prayers for her. I am so grateful to you for taking the time to pray for Jessie. My hope and prayer is that Jessie turns the knob and opens the door to Jesus and learns to trust and lean on Him. Be well and blessed one and all!

  3. It is funny how God knows what we need and when we need it. When the feeling of complete loss hits and faith wavers to encourage us to keep going. I was listening to Gracefully Broken this morning on the way to work and in prayer about situations in my life. Searching for answer and can across this post. He is always on time.

Yes, PERSIST in pursuing God… make your requests known to him. When you seek him with all your heart with all your mind, and with all your strength, you will most definitely find him. He will reveal himself to you. He will reward you. This is a faith walk, and it requires effort, but let LOVE(because he first loved us, while we were lost and wallowing in the mud) be your propulsion. Remember obedience is better than sacrifice…
