Jesus Calling - April 16th, 2025

Jesus Calling: April 16th

I am calling you to a life of thankfulness. I want all your moments to be punctuated with thanksgiving. The basis for your gratitude is My sovereignty. I am the Creator and Controller of the universe. Heaven and earth are filled with My glorious Presence.
When you criticize or complain, you are acting as if you think you could run the world better than I do. From your limited human perspective, it may look as if I'm mismanaging things. But you don't know what I know or see what I see. If I pulled back the curtain to allow you to view heavenly realms, you would understand much more. However, I have designed you to live by faith, not by sight. I lovingly shield you from knowing the future or seeing into the spirit world. Acknowledge My sovereignty by giving thanks in all circumstances.

Isaiah 6:3 (NLT)
3 They were calling out to each other,
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!
The whole earth is filled with his glory!”

Additional insight regarding Isaiah 6:1-3: Holiness means "morally perfect, pure, and set apart from all sin." We need to discover God's holiness. Our daily frustrations, society's pressures, and our shortcomings narrow our view of God. We need the Bible's view of God as high and lifted up to empower us to deal with our problems and concerns. God's moral perfection, properly seen, will purify us from sin, cleanse our mind of our problems, and enable us to worship and to serve.

2nd Corinthians 5:7 (NLT)
7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.

Additional insight regarding 2nd Corinthians 5:6-8: Paul was not afraid to die because he was confident in spending eternity with Christ. Of course, facing the unknown may cause us anxiety, and leaving loved ones hurts deeply, but if we believe in Jesus Christ, we can share Paul's hope and confidence of eternal life with Christ. Death is only a prelude to eternal life with God. We will continue to live. Let this hope give you confidence and inspire you to faithful service

1st Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Additional insight regarding 1st Thessalonians 5:18: Paul was not teaching that we should thank God for everything that happens to us, but in everything. Evil does not come from God, so we should not thank him for it. But when evil strikes, we can still be thankful for God's presence and for the good that he will accomplish through the distress.

Today's Prayer:

I hear Your call to a life of thankfulness, where every moment is punctuated with gratitude. Help me to acknowledge Your sovereignty in all things, and fully trust that You are the Creator and controller of the universe. Even when circumstances seem challenging, let me choose thankfulness over criticism or complaint, living by faith in Your wisdom and love that provides guidance and comfort. Amen.

Next Date's Daily Devotional:

  1. We do not know what He knows because of our limited human perspective!

  2. By thanking our Lord for His presence and care in any given circumstance, we demonstrate our commitment to truly “live by faith” and to not lean on our own understandings, instead. This creates a buffer between us and that which is treacherous, wherein we are shielded by God’s arms.

    Thank you Father!!
