Jesus Calling: January 4
I want you to learn a new habit, try saying, "I trust You, Jesus" in response to whatever happens to you. If there is time, think about who I AM in all My Power and Glory; ponder also the depth and breadth of My love for you.
This simple practice will help you see Me in every situation, acknowledging My sovereign control over the universe. When you view events from this perspective--through the Light of my universal Presence--fear loses its grip on you. Adverse circumstances become growth opportunities when you affirm your trust in Me no matter what. You receive blessings gratefully, realizing they flow directly from My hand of grace. Your continual assertion of trusting Me will strengthen our relationship and keep you close to Me.

Additional insight regarding Psalms 63:1-5: Hiding from his enemies in the barren wilderness of Judah, David was intensely lonely. He longed for a friend he could trust to ease his loneliness. No wonder he cried out, "O God, you are my God, . . . My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water." If you are lonely or thirsty for something lasting in your life, remember David's prayer. God alone can satisfy our deepest longings.
Isaiah 40:10-11 NLT
Yes, the Sovereign LORD is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.
Additional insight regarding Isaiah 40:11: The Bible often pictures God as a shepherd, gently caring for and guiding his flock. He is powerful (40:10), yet careful and gentle. He is described as a shepherd throughout Scripture (Psalm 23; John 10:11, 14; Hebrews 13:20; 1st Peter 5:4). Note that the shepherd in this verse cares for the most defenseless members of his society: the young and those caring for them. This reinforces the prophetic theme that the mighty nation is not the one with a strong military but rather the one that relies on God's caring strength as it prioritizes caring for its people, incredibly the least of these (see Matthew 25:40).
Psalms 139:7-10 NLT
I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.
Additional insight regarding Psalms 139:7-10: God is omnipotent, meaning he is present everywhere. Because of this, you can never escape from his Spirit. This is good news to those who know and love God because no matter what we do or where we go, we can never be far from God's guiding and comforting presence (see Romans 8:35-39).

ReplyDeleteTwo days ago I was diagnosed with a frightening condition. I was numb when I was given this scary news. I’m still afraid because I don’t know what to expect. I’m leaning heavily on God to get me through this. But sometimes I am still so fearful of the unknown. Today’s post, “I want you to learn a new habit, try saying, "I trust You, Jesus" in response to whatever happens to you,” is so fitting and I will repeat that all through the day. Amen

ReplyDeleteThe love God has for us is ever present and His ever lasting love has no boundaries. To be child of God gives those trust and believe in Him blessed peace in times of troubles. Thankful to be able to walk by faith and not by sight. To be steadfast with courage and strength that comes from knowing God and serving Him.
