Jesus Calling: July 27th
Hope is a golden cord connecting you to heaven. This cord helps you hold your head up high, even when multiple trials are buffeting you. I never leave your side, and I never let go of your hand. But without the cord of hope, your head may slump and your feet may shuffle as you journey uphill with Me. Hope lifts your perspective from your weary feet to the glorious view you can see from the high road. You are reminded that the road we're traveling together is ultimately a highway to heaven. When you consider this radiant destination, the roughness or smoothness of the road ahead becomes much less significant. I am training you to hold in your heart a dual focus: My continual Presence and the hope of heaven.RELATED SCRIPTURE:

1st Thessalonians 5:8 (NLT)
8 But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.
Additional insight regarding 1st Thessalonians 5:8: This scripture is referring to the Full Armor of God detailed in Ephesians 6:13-17 - the Helmet of Salvation, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shield of Faith, Sword of the Spirit, Belt of Truth, and the feet shod with peace.
Hebrews 6:18-19 (NLT)
18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. 19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
Additional insight regarding Hebrews 6:18-19: These two unchangeable things are God's promise and his oath. God embodies all truth; therefore, he cannot lie. Because God is truth, you can be secure in his promises; you don't need to wonder if he will change his plans. Our hope is secure and immovable, anchored in God, just as a ship's anchor holds firmly to the seabed. To the true seeker who comes to God in belief, God gives an unconditional promise of acceptance. When you ask God with openness, honesty, and sincerity to save you from your sins, he will do it. This truth should give you an encouragement, assurance, and confidence.

ReplyDeleteI love this devotional. The Lord has delivered me from so many things. Especially the abuse I had when I was younger. A councilor wasn't very good putting in politely. He wanted to have sex with his underage clients for which I was one. That led to a lot of heartache in a profession that my Dad and Grandpa retired from and that is the military. My drill instructor thought I was a homosexual which I wasn't but found it terrifying while in basic training because he thought I was. It's called guilt by association over something that I couldn't control. I couldn't help it that my Arkansas Rehabilitation counselor was that way but it didn't mean I was. I was also terrified when they beat, tied and choked me to near death over and over while my arms and legs were tied with leather straps while in the V.A Hospital in NLR Arkansas. The Lord is good and I've had a lot of good in my life too especially being delivered from those horrible abusive situations. I was wanting to write a book when younger about growing up in Hot Springs, Arkansas where all this originated. We had moved here from Colorado Springs where my Dad was stationed while being in the Air Force. He worked radar during the cold war with Russia after joining at age 17. Thank you for letting me share and God bless you for it.
ReplyDeleteNot a day goes by that hope isn't present in my life. After 53 years of being married, my husband passed away. My belief and hope and strength thru Christ get me out of bed and keep me moving forward. I have a strong support system in place and I miss my husband every day. I know I will see him again and that keeps me hopeful knowing I am always tied to Christ
ReplyDeleteI love this group and Jesus Calling daily. My husband of 53 yrs passed away in May and I could not have endured it without the hope God has promised me. Jesus gives me strength to carry on even tho I am still sad for myself and my sons and grandsons. I KNOW I will see my beloved husband again and that hope we're talking about helps me look forward to a future I didnt think possible.
