Jesus Calling - April 30th, 2025

Jesus Calling: April 30th

When some basic need is lacking--time, energy, money--consider yourself blessed. Your very lack is an opportunity to latch onto Me in unashamed dependence. When you begin a day with inadequate resources, you must concentrate your efforts on the present moment. This is where you are meant to live--in the present; it is the place where I always await you. Awareness of your inadequacy is a rich blessing, training you to rely wholeheartedly on Me.
The truth is that self-sufficiency is a myth perpetuated by pride and temporary success. Health and wealth can disappear instantly, as can life itself. Rejoice in your insufficiency, knowing that My Power is made perfect in weakness.

RECOMMENDED BIBLE VERSES:

James 1:2 (NLT)
Faith and Endurance
2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.

Additional insight regarding James 1:2,3: James doesn't say if trouble comes your way but when it does. He assumes that we will have troubles and that it is possible to profit from them with increased endurance. The point is not to pretend to be happy when we face pain but to have a positive outlook ("consider it an opportunity for great joy") because of what troubles can produce in our life. James tells us to turn our hardships into times of learning. Tough times can teach us perseverance.

Additional insight regarding James 1:2-4: We can't really know the depth of our character until we see how we react under pressure. It is easy to be kind to others when everything is going well, but can we still be kind when others are treating us unfairly? God wants to make us mature and complete, not to keep us from all pain. Instead of complaining about our struggles, we should see them as opportunities for growth. Thank God for promising to be with you in rough times. Ask him to help you solve your problems or give you strength to endure them. Then be patient. God will not leave you alone with your problems; he will stay close and help you grow.

2nd Corinthians 12:9 NLT
9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

  1. This is exactly what I needed to hear today. I have recently retired not off by free wheel, but it came at a much-needed time. My daughter needed me. My grandkids needed me and luckily enough I was old enough to draw my Social Security and be a blessing for my daughter and my grandkids, and also for my own mental and physical abilities, so I think God for the opportunity that he has given me. But it is a struggle living on a fixed income, especially with what I was used to making, but he has seeing me through. I am surviving and I keep holding onto him , I call upon his name very very often.

Amen! Thanks for sharing your story. Many of us are facing similar challenges due to unstable and ever-decreasing skilled work opportunities - even for many who are nowhere near retirement, like myself.
I am giving thought to looking for employment in a city approx 250 miles away, but not sure this is the resolution for many reasons including needing to commute regularly to see my spouse… since he has a job here and an older parent he must assist in various ways. Daily, I look to God for direction and thank Him for meeting my needs as He promises. I am grateful and blessed that my spouse’s income continues and I know this is all by the grace of God.

Let’s remain faithful in His supremacy and abundance!! He will continue to provide and protect.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.🙏🏽
